Hard Rock Café to Come to York

North Star have secured the rights to introduce the Hard Rock Café restaurant brand to York city centre.

The famous restaurant brand will be located on the middle of Coney Street. It will be positioned where TK Maxx is currently based on the street.

The new restaurant is predicted to bring 75 jobs into the city and is to support local services and suppliers.

A spokesperson for North Star said: “This is hugely exciting for us and demonstrates our passion, confidence, and commitment to both the city and the region.

“We know and care passionately about York and have worked hard to create this incredible opportunity to bring a global brand to the heart of Yorkshire.”

North Star are a property asset management company who essentially specialise within the development sector. Based in York, North Star have secured the rights to bring the Hard Rock Café to our region.

This will be the first time Hard Rock will be within Yorkshire with only premises currently within London, Newcastle, and Manchester within England.

The iconic chain has venues in more than 68 countries around the world. As with all venues, the York site is set to deliver a platform to showcase both local and international talent.

The space will also be available for people to host meetings, group sessions and for private dinners.

The new addition is thought to bring significant economic growth to the city of York which has seen much economic turmoil after the Covid-19 landscape. It is to be on Coney Street which has seen a multitude of businesses closures throughout the years. So, a new addition of the Café is hoped to bring more business and footfall into the area.

The Hard Rock Café business was founded in 1971 in Mayfair in London and has since grown and is a key location in cities around the world.

The site will feature a range of authentic American food and drinks and the instantly recognisable merchandise.

North Star has said: “We are in positive discussions with York Council and very much hope to bring Hard Rock to York, as part of our commitment to investing in and further enchaining what we believe is the best city in the UK.”
