Pete Jameson Leaves York City

Pete Jameson has signed for Harrogate Town AFC after being offered a new deal with York City. The 29-year-old goalkeeper has been a stand out player for the club since joining York City in 2019. He produced his most impressive form last season, winning multiple MOTM awards and making some incredible saves. Jameson recently won the Clubman of the Year award as York earned promotion through the play-offs.

Confirming his departure from the club, Pete took to social media, writing: “I write this message with a heavy heart that my time at York City has come to an end. This was not an easy decision on my behalf but the opportunity to go into the Football League has always been an ambition of mine and one I could not turn down.”

Simon Weaver, manager of Harrogate Town AFC, made a statement on his new signing:

“We’ve been tracking Pete for some time at York and he’s a really good all round keeper and looks the part. His shot stopping has been superb. He’s a good size, commands his box, kicks well and so all round brings a lot to the table. He’s played a major role in York’s success this season, with both him and the club doing superb to earn promotion.”

“We’re delighted to bring him to Harrogate, and we know we’ve signed a really good lad as well. We do some digging on characters and he’s spot on. As soon as we met him, we thought he had a really good way about him and I’m sure he’ll do well for us and enjoy his time here.”

Weaver is English football’s longest serving manager in the Football League with thirteen years to his name. During his time in charge at Harrogate, Weaver has overseen two promotions, with the most recent triumph lifting the 2019/20 FA Trophy.
