York City Knights secured back-to-back wins over the Platinum Jubilee Weekend, beating Sheffield Eagles 34-14 and just scraping a victory over London Broncos with a 36-34 win in the Betfred Championship.

York City Knights are now in a great spot as the season heads into its second half.

After beating Sheffield, York decided to experiment with their team against London, with four teenagers named in their starting 17. Brad Ward, AJ Towse, Toby Warren and Myles Harrison all started for the Knights and the team looked set for defeat at many points but eventually took a lead with only seven minutes to play.

Manager, Tom Ford, spoke in his post-match interview of his thoughts over the triumphant weekend. He said, “I feel better today, namely because I knew today was going to be a test of some young men and I’m incredibly proud of how they played today.”

As a result of these triumphs, the Knights have re-established their four-point lead above play-off rivals Halifax as they hold a position in third after playing 14 of the 27 matches in total.

The Knights are heading next to face Widnes Vikings on the 12th of June at the DCBL Stadium, fresh from the back-to-back victories over last weekend.

Widnes are currently sitting in ninth position after falling to two heavy defeats over last weekend with Bradford winning 31-6 and Barrow Raiders thrashed Widnes 44-4, just three days later.

Tickets are available for Sunday with the Knights having an allocation to sell from their Club Shop. The Club Shop is open between 10am and 4pm from Monday to Friday.
